Tyler Cameron: Goodbye Edmonton, Hello Vegas
Well, technically, the Blackhawks aren't saying "Goodbye" to Edmonton because they are still there, but you get where I'm going.

I knew there was a chance but I thought Edmonton would have put up a better fight. The Oilers just didn't want it as much as the Hawks.

What do I think about this series? Here are 5 thoughts as we head into game 1.

I’d love to see us give that 3rd line some swagger. We can’t go up against the Western elite(which includes VGK) without a legit 3rd line. We need to roll 4 lines. 1st and 4th lines look great and have each solidified themselves. The middle 6 is what needs to be addressed.

So as I’ve been saying(because both 88 and 77 are good enough to make whatever line they’re on dangerous and create matchup problems all by themselves) let’s try splitting them up again.

And if not and we insist on keeping them together then the other way to do this is putting Cat and Strome back together to see if they can rekindle some magic.

Either way though I fear loading up that 2nd line and rendering our 3rd line useless is a very bad formula moving forward.

they have trouble with these guys since vegas arrived...but they seemed to play better vs them prior to shutdown...

i think the hawks can hang with these guys but they need a big series from kane and crow...it would be nice if some player x showed up...

the lehner storyline could be a distraction...

can the hawks win this series..yes...but a whole has to go right...

i think this series can go 6 or 7...

Great write-up Tyler.

For me this series is all about the development of the young guns. Sure, it’s possible that the Hawks win but the odds are not in their favour. Playoff experience will be invaluable for the likes of Dach, Boqvist and DeBrincat. Will this be Strome and Nylander’s final shot at securing a spot on the roster beyond this season?

Tyler I enjoyed your honest assessment of chicago and Crawford. I've been saying that Crawford hasn't looked or played at a level needed to help this team steal a game or 2.

I thought the 3rd period chicago played with the lead to cautiously and if it weren't for that penalty or the missed shot I do believe we would be looking at a game 5.

Now onto vegas , Chicago needs to fix the strome nylander line , nylander is useless. What about sikura playing instead? I know he has been snake bitten in scoring but he plays a stronger better defensive game?

And on boqvist I'd like to see him paired with de haan and murphy with keith to balance out the d pairings .

Your thoughts nor suggestions?

I was surprised Sikura didn’t get a shot when Caggiula was suspended. If the Hawks go down 2-0 in the series I’d expect to see line-up changes and Sikura finally get a chance.

Your right Darth. If you notice JC one mistake which may or may not have made a difference in the outcome but it was game 2 putting quenville in for 6 minutes .

I'd like to see nylander benched right away have sikura play with kane and cat with strome to balance out the scoring.

Tyler give us your prediction who will get the number 1 pick ? I'm picking Edmonton, I say that because in my gut feeling it was whomever lost that series would end up winning the #1 pick

I say the Rangers.

Should the Hawks remain at 17 I’d trade down to get extra picks. Maybe 17 and 55 to Ottawa for 22 and 33.

I thought Nylander was just fine in games 4 and 5. Hopefully Strome won’t be as exposed as Vegas’s centers are not as fast as Edmonton’s.

I think you see Hagel before Sikura. It’s is obvious JC doesn’t like his game.

Strome led the Hawks in scoring against Vegas this season with 4 points in 3 games. Fingers crossed that he keeps up that play in this series.

So will chicago no matter what be drafting at 17? Is that how this pans out . Rangers you think land him is your pick. Interesting , the nhl broadcaster today mentioned toronto if they get bounced which is looking that way.

Really hagel in your opinion gets called over sikura ? I just don't see any benefit of keeping nylander and strome together. I have more faith in strome producing.

But the 3rd line looked nonexistent very slow . Maybe its Edmonton's speed or just these kids being winded so quickly.

He put Quenneville in because he wanted a bigger body. Vegas is a much bigger team than Edmonton. Hagel plays bigger than his size.

I know alot of people think vegas is a better match for Chicago, I think colorado would have been a easier match . Vegas looked really good and they have 2 great goalies and 4 solid lines .

Paul & Rick, I'm sure you're watching the leafs game. Your enmity towards them is well known. It's good to watch the underdog & the collapse.

Too bad, I kinda like that #11

. Vegas looked great , I think Chicago would have been better of playing colorado imo.

I'd sure like to see JC make a couple of tweaks to the lines and get 4 lines competing

Most won't like this... but I have this weird feeling that Nashville is going to be called tomorrow as the 1st overall.
